•     王佐良（1919—1995），浙江上虞人，1995年毕业于西南联合大学外语系（原清华大学外语系），留校任教，1947年赴英国牛津大学为攻读英国文学研究生，1949年9月提前回国，任北京外国语学院教授。曾任系主任、副院长，年为该院外国文学研究所所长。学生时期就写诗，并有英文诗发表，又有中篇小说《昆明居》为世人所知。五十年代起以双向翻译从事文化交流和文学研究，把中国戏剧文学名著《雷雨》等作品译成英文，把英诗多种移译为中文，主张以诗译诗，存原诗风貌；研究英国文学的中英文论著，以文艺复兴时期和现代诗歌两个领域为主。集诗人、翻译家、研究工作者于一身而各有成就。
